It was a very windy day. Winds at 3000′ were from the north-west at 40kts+. Surface winds were 310 to 340 deg. 16kts gusting to 22kts. Downwind legs were ‘fast’ and landings were ‘interesting’. On this particular ‘pattern’, after turning final, I pitched for 54KIAS (Short Field Technique) and adjusted power (as necessary) to vary the RATE of descent. The ‘headwind’ component made for a very slow (groundspeed) approach!
