Born in Naples in 1940, Peppino Gagliardi achieved his first success in 1963 with “T’amo e t’amerò” (”I love you and will love you”). Later on he took part in the festival of San Remo several times during the 60’s and the early 70’s, and in 1965 he also starred in the TV movie “008 Operazione ritmo”, featuring Gianni Morandi, Bobby Solo and other popular artists of that time. Most of Gagliardi’s songs, characterized by an intense romantic atmosphere and reminding Neapolitanian tradition, were composed by the singer himself with co-writer Amendola. His particular style of performing gained him the nickname “The Italian Aznavour”.

WARNING! Contains lots of phallic imagery. The infamous “phallic castle” on the “Little Mermaid” video box is nothing compared to this!

According to one source, the song on this video is actually sung by Wayne Carpenter, a 70’s era songwriter and session musician (and former son-in-law of animator/director John Wilson).

Some of the lyrics were changed, possibly at the request of network censors. Lyric changes include changing the word “Pernod” to “Bourbon”, and giving the song a happy ending in which the alcoholic makes “an unbelievable transition” and beats his addiction to booze.

At camp the other guys have just finished eating the birds Fez killed which he identified as pheasants. Everyone pronounces them delicious, and all’s well until Fez tells them his “pheasants” were black and went “caw-caw.”
